2013 – The Herbal High Road

Abundance Fruit Day

Summer with a delightfully barmy army: “The Edible High Roads event throughout the Fringe, with 22 fruit trees down the Salusbury Road in Queens Park, 30 lining Askew Road, Hammersmith, and 50 gracing Forest Hill. Chiswick will have a mile-long nectar garden of 60 herbal planters along its three main shopping streets, organised by Abundnace London, who will be throwing a street party on Saturday with promises of herbal bread-kneading, willow weaving and fragrant gin gardens. evening-standard-15-05-13

The antithesis of the RHS extravaganza; “A mile of mini herb gardens wends its way past Chiswick’s shops, each in an apple crate adapted and planted by volunteers, with lavender and rosemary bushes nuzzling willow obelisks of borlotti beans, sweet peas and climbing nasturtiums.” guardian-weekend-18-may-2013

The Chiswick Resident. “From my first meeting with Karen Liebreich in Chiswick House’s kitchen gardens over a decade ago, I stumbled on the notion that if I spent enough time digging, planting and generally doing what she told me to do then some of her gardening genius would rub off on me…” “Local shops would sponsor a fruit tree to be placed in front of the shop, creating a river of trees… Receiving a warm welcome locally, it was billed as one of the stand out successes of the festival.”  chiswick-resident-may-2013
